Package Cruise/Seminar fee

All of the following are included in the fares shown below:

  • all Seaquest Seminars sessions,
  • your stateroom (with plenty of closet space!),
  • all the wonderful meals and food served on the ship or in your room (with the exception noted below)
  • all port charges and cruise fare taxes
  • Holland America's exceptional service and entertainment (please note: tips are extra), and
  • use of the ship's gym and fitness area, sauna, pools, jacuzzis, lounges, library, and other public facilities.

One affordable package fare for the seminar and the cruise makes enrollment and budgeting easy. This is an exclusive offer in association with this seminar. Depending upon availability, these prices may increase prior to booking.*

All package cruise/seminar fares listed below are per person (adult), double occupancy. If you wish to bring children**, please ask about fares. Staterooms are available on a first come, first served basis, subject to limitations set by Holland America:

With Large Outside View Stateroom

  • Cat E: A-deck ($ per person to be announced)
  • Cat D: one deck higher, Main Deck ($ per person to be announced)
  • Cat DD: Lower Promenade, partial sea view ($ per person to be announced)
  • Cat C: Lower Promenade, best location in class ($ per person to be announced)

With Large Inside Stateroom

  • Cat K: Main Deck ($ per person to be announced)
  • Cat I: located on the upper passenger decks ($ per person to be announced)

While these staterooms are quite comfortable, and exceed the standard for their category in the industry, you might also be interested in the corresponding fares for larger staterooms:

With Verandah Suite (includes outside balcony)

  • Cat A: on top passenger deck ($ per person to be announced)
  • Cat B: on the next deck down ($ per person to be announced)

With Delux Verandah Suite (includes larger living and outside veranda spaces)

  • Cat S: on top passenger deck or decks ($ per person to be announced)

Penthouse Verandah Suite (if available; includes larger living spaces still, with dining room, plus luxurious bathing and entertainment features)

  • Cat PS: on top passenger deck ($ per person to be announced)

Deposit requirements are the same for all categories of staterooms.

Other Costs You May Have:

During the cruise, you may have other costs. These could include:

  • Charges for alcoholic beverages on board; charges may also apply for soft drinks in the lounges or bars.
  • Gratuities for staff. Like many cruise lines, Holland America, sets aside a tip on your personal onboard account to recognize your room steward, dining table waiter and assistant waiter. This charge was $10 total per guest per day in 2005. You may adjust this amount by contacting the front office on the ship at the end of the cruise. Please note that a service charge (15% in 2005) will be automatically added to your bar charges and dining room wine account. Gratuities are a way of recognizing the truly exceptional service we have come to expect on Holland.
  • A special surcharge if you wish to dine at the new, intimate speciality restaurant. We have found the dining to be excellent in the main and more informal dining rooms on Holland, but you may wish to treat yourself to this special new offering.
  • Shore excursion fees. Both Holland America (click here) and local companies provide wonderful excursion opportunities on days in port for a fee. It is both enjoyable and wise to study your options in advance, and make arrangements as early as possible. It is also quite possible to design your own do-it-yourself adventure. Please be aware that you are responsible for being back at the announced on-board time. Note that shore excursions listed by Holland America generally guarantee timely return, or ensure (no extra cost to you) rejoining your cruise in the unlikely event the tour operator somehow missed the boat!
  • Small charges that some Mexican tourist sites may require if you want to take pictures with a camcorder.
  • Costs for any personal or other items you buy in shops aboard or off the ship. This would also include any meals or drinks you buy while off the ship.
  • Any costs of traveling to join the ship in San Diego or to travel back to your home or business.
  • Travel insurance cost: it is especially prudent to obtain travel insurance coverage, which is available for a very reasonable fee. Service providers need to cover costs related to cancellation. Please check the amount of your fee that becomes non-refundable as the sailing date approaches. In the event that you would need to cancel and miss this wonderful course and cruise experience, you will be secure in knowing that your investment is protected. Click here for more information on travel insurance.
  • Supplemental medical insurance coverage. This is commonly included (or can be added for small cost) to the types of travel insurance policies just mentioned. Supplemental medical insurance is especially important when traveling outside the U.S. While the ship will have emergency medical staff aboard, in the event that you would require evacuation to more intensive medical care, treatment, and then return to the ship or home, supplemental insurance will help minimize any costs to you. These costs, if not covered by insurance, could be substantial.

We have found that traveling and learning on a cruise is an enjoyable, safe, refreshing, and indeed extraordinary experience. And compared with the cost of conventional travel and training, this experience can be quite cost-effective as well.

*While we have not seen an instance of the following, the cruise line also reserves the right to increase fares after booking. In this case, guests will have the right to cancel without penalty. According to the cruise line, this right of cancellation without penalty does not apply to increases in taxes (for example, government taxes related to visiting ports) or surcharges (for example, for security) that the cruise line elects to pass on to its guests.

**Please note Holland America's policy that guests on cruise ships under 21 years of age must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or chaperon who is at least 25 years old, and that one adult chaperone is required for every five people under 21.
